Pooja Chawla Gandhi, Director & CEO
Pooja Chawla Gandhi leads the company’s operations with a strong focus on strategic growth, client relationships, and long-term business development within the material handling industry.
A graduate in Economics from University of Mumbai, Mrs Gandhi began her professional journey with Poorvi Enterprises, progressing from back-office support responsibilities to managing accounts, finance, and marketing functions. In 2006, she established Weyenberg Resources India Pvt. Ltd., and has since played a central role in the company’s development and expansion.
With nearly two decades of experience in the material handling sector, Mrs Gandhi oversees the company’s marketing and engineering teams while also contributing to corporate planning, finance, and project management. She additionally serves as the organisation’s principal point of contact for shareholders and key business stakeholders. In 2010, she successfully secured and executed the company’s largest agreement at the time, valued at approximately EUR 6.5 million.
Her professional approach is centred on innovation, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, and delivering long-term value to clients and partners. Over the years, she has also been involved in technical outreach initiatives within the heavy lifting industry, including participation in specialised seminars and discussions relating to wire ropes, crane solutions, after-sales support, and maintenance services.
Known for her energetic and hands-on approach to work, Mrs Gandhi remains deeply involved in the company’s day-to-day operations while continuing to drive its strategic vision forward. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she values family life and enjoys travelling for both business and personal experiences. She is also passionate about health and wellbeing, with interests including fitness training, yoga, and Pickleball.
Surinder Chawla, Director
Educated in North India, Surinder Chawla is a graduate of University of Bareilly. He began his professional journey in Dhanbad as the manager of a coal trading firm before relocating to Mumbai to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities in industrial coal trading.
Over the past five decades, Mr Chawla has played a key role in expanding the business from its early foundations in industrial coal into diverse sectors, including maritime infrastructure projects, technical component trading, and large-scale industrial solutions. Under his guidance, the business has evolved to support projects associated with urban infrastructure, ports, shipyards, railway lines, and the wider material handling industry.
With more than 55 years of entrepreneurial experience across coal trading, construction, and civil contracts for government agencies, Mr Chawla continues to oversee the affairs of Weyenberg Resources India Pvt. Ltd. while also acting as a guide and mentor to the team. His extensive industry knowledge, practical approach, and long-standing business relationships have contributed significantly to the company’s sustained growth and reputation.
Mr Chawla remains closely involved in the company’s strategic direction, offering insight, experience, and guidance developed through decades of involvement in infrastructure and industrial sectors.
